Dwight Lamb receives a big American folk music award!

21 Jun

In mid-May we were on tour through Denmark and Northern Germany with our good friend Dwight Lamb from Onawa, Iowa. Between the concerts we celebrated Dwight’s 83th birthday at Hofteatret at Christiansborg (the Danish Parliament building in central Copenhagen) on May 16th, where he received the highest honor, the Rigs Fiddler (Silver Coat) Award (rigsspillemandsmærket i sølv) along with a number of good folk musician colleagues. A real festive party night!

But the celebrations should not stop there! Tuesday June 20 2017 it has been announced that he now also receives the hugely prestigious Bess Lomax Hawes National Heritage Fellowship in his home country. It is the highest prize awarded to “Master Folk and Traditional Artists” in the United States.
